Singapore Grand Prix: Training of the security and policing staff

Introduction

The Singapore Grand Prix is one of the rounds of the F1 Grand Prix Circuit. In recent years the number of Europeans, Americans and Antipodeans visiting the event has increased by 500%. We were asked to create a programme for the security and policing staff focused on facilitative policing and managing of the event.

Project Brief

The brief in essence was to change the psychology and application of theory at the event into a more Western delivery of facilitative policing to support the needs and expectations of the high number of western nationals visiting the event.

Issues

Some of the main issues involved the way in which the education and training would be interpreted by the organisers and how we would get the learning points across to those attending the course.

Outcomes

The course went down very well and those participating despite the cultural differences in teaching and learning were able to assimilate the main learning points.
